A mobile-photography lookback on 2013
iPhone photography or „iphoneography“, thats how we hipster call it is pure practice. I just noticed that a few minutes ago. I downloaded all my instagram-photos from 2013 to create this blog-entry because I remember me grabbing my phone many, many times this year and shooting scenes that I wanted to capture without taking my big DSLR out of my pocket. And I was shocked. I was really shocked when I downloaded and sorted out the photos that I didn’t want to upload. I ended up with 148 shots. All taken with the iPhone, all uploaded to Instagram. So you can say, I uploaded a photo every second day which is way more than I expected.
It’s just too simple. Quick snapping, quick editing, quick sharing. Way easier than shooting, downloading the photos to your pc, sorting out, spending hours in processing and so on… But let’s go back to my first sentence: iPhoneography is practice. As I scrolled through my shots I noticed a big improvement over the whole year. In the first shots I wasn’t quite familiar with the square framing but the more I shot the better I could compose the picture in it.
Also I spend hours and hours trying to figure out a good processing on my beloved apple-phone. My go-for is still “VSCO Cam” (spoken: Visco-cam) which provides many filters and optional adjustments to give my photos the right look. I sometimes try around with “CrossProcess”, “Mattebox”, “Snapseed” or “Mextures” which are amazing photo-processing apps by itself but at the end I always somehow end up with “VSCO Cam”. If you haven’t tried it: Do it. But as I start talking about that… it’s worth an own blog-entry, I guess.
Oh, and don’t forget to follow my work on Instagram!
Tolle Bilder!
Ich fotografiere auch viel mit dem Handy - zum Festhalten von Ideen und auch als visuelles Tagebuch.
