A few days ago, my cameras got a new family member, the Bronica ETRS. The Bronica is a medium format 4,5x6 film-camera. So it's not the classical square medium format but something in between the square and the classical 2x3 format.
Medium format negatives are very big which causes an extremely high detail level and you can achieve pictures with more than 50 MP (but that doesn't make sense very often!). You can get nearly every small-format film in a medium-format version and i started with the Kodak Portra here too. Light metering is not possible with my camera but fortunately i have some tools to help me with that (you could also use a digtal camera for metering 😉 ). The manual focus is something completely different first but it's really nice if you get used to it. I even use manual focus with my digital camera now, whenever it's possible. It's much easier to get a really sharp focus when you're doing it the manual way.
There is still a small defect on the camera, causing some light leaks on many photos, which means light is hitting the film on some position. I still wasn't able to completely kill these light leaks but as soon as i got rid of this problem, you will see the first series with the Bronica! Till then, i shot some photos OF the camera for you! (well, it's a pretty nice thing to look at, isn't it?)
